In this guide you’ll find transit services for travel in Santa Barbara County and connections with neighboring counties – serving residents, commuters, and tourists. Services are arranged by locality and type.
Local Buses
COLT (City of Lompoc Transit)– Daily service in Lompoc, Vandenberg Village and Mission Hills. Regular fare: $1.25 (within the City of Lompoc) and $2.00 (outside the City). Monthly passes: $40 (unlimited use within the City) and $60 (unlimited use outside the City). There are discounted senior, disabled, and student passes. Guadalupe Shuttle – Monday-Friday rides anywhere within the city of Guadalupe.
By reservation only. Regular fare: $0.50. Senior, disabled, and student fare: $0.25. 1(805) 922-8476
MTD (Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District) – Daily service in Carpinteria, Montecito, Santa Barbara, and Goleta. Regular fare: $1.75. Ten-ride pass: $11.50. Monthly pass: $52. SMAT (Santa Maria Area Transit) – Serving Santa Maria, Orcutt and Tanglewood. Regular passes are $1.50 ($1 for students and only $.75 for seniors and persons with disabilities). Regional Buses
– Weekday commuter bus service linking Santa Maria, Vandenberg AFB and Lompoc as well as new service connecting Santa Maria to Los Alamos, Solvang and Buellton. $2 cash fare, $10 and $20 value cards, and $75 monthly passes. Discounts available for senior/Medicare/ADA travelers. Passes and value cards can be purchased onboard the bus, and value cards are also available for purchase at many locations in Santa Maria, Lompoc and Orcutt. Call 1-800-417-2137 for more information.
Chumash Casino Bus –Shuttles serving the Chumash Casino from Santa Maria, Lompoc, and Goleta. 1-800-CHUMASH.
– Weekday Commuter Service: A weekday commuter bus program serving residents of Northern Santa Barbara County (Santa Maria, Lompoc, Solvang and Buellton) commuting to their jobs in Goleta and Santa Barbara, providing a fast, convenient, and money-saving way to get to work. Fares are $150 for a monthly pass, $50 for a 10-Ride pass, and $7 cash for a single ride. Passes can be purchased at the City of Lompoc (COLT) office, the Santa Maria Area Transit (SMAT) office, the MTD Transit Center in Santa Barbara, or through the mail. Coastal Express by VCTC – Provides daily service between Camarillo, Oxnard, Ventura, Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, Goleta and UCSB. Fares are $115.00 per calendar month, $32 for a 10-ride pass, or $3.50 per ride. Cuyama Shuttle – Cuyama Transit provides service between New Cuyama and Santa Maria. A shuttle van operates twice per week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. As this is not a fixed route, passengers can be picked up from any location in New Cuyama, including homes, and taken to destinations in Santa Maria. The service also offers medical prescription pick-ups for persons who cannot travel to Santa Maria. Fares are $6 per one way trip for adults and children. Please call (661) 766-2270.

Guadalupe Flyer – Providing service between Guadalupe and Santa Maria. Regular one-way fare is $1.50. Monthly passes are available for $45. For more information, call 922-8476.

Wine Country Express – Provides service between Lompoc, Buellton, and Solvang for $2. Wine Country Express runs 6 days a week, 3 times a day leaving from Mission Plaza. For more information call (805) 736-7666.
Trains
Amtrak® and Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® – The Pacific Surfliner offers five northbound trains and five southbound trains daily: all trains serve Santa Barbara and Goleta stations and some serve stations in North County. It has modern bi-level cars with panoramic windows, reclining seats with footrests, outlets for laptops, free Wi-Fi, and bike and surfboard racks. The Amtrak Coast Starlight stops in Santa Barbara twice daily, once on its route from L.A. to Seattle and vice versa. 1-800-USA-RAIL.
DISCOUNT TICKETS: Special rates are available for 10 ride and monthly tickets by buying a Multi-Ride pass. A monthly pass is $150 from any Ventura County station to any Santa Barbara County station and $50 for a 10 ride. From Carpinteria to either Santa Barbara or Goleta, a monthly pass is $80 and a 10 ride is $30.
Amtrak also offers everyday discounts for seniors, students, families, passengers with disabilities, and AAA members, and special 20% discount tickets for the Pacific Surfliner® and San Joaquin® trains through Santa Barbara Car Free.
Ride the Train to Work
New early-morning train service started April 2018 and connects commuters from Ventura County and Carpinteria to Santa Barbara and Goleta to make it possible to ride the Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® to work. Chumash Casino Bus –Shuttles serving the Chumash Casino from Santa Maria, Lompoc, and Goleta. 1-800-CHUMASH.
Roadrunner Shuttle and Limousine Service – National airport shuttle and limo service for all major airports, with service in Santa Barbara County.
Santa Barbara Air Bus to LAX – Service for Goleta, Santa Barbara, and Carpinteria, to and from LAX, as well as San Pedro and Long Beach ports.

Easy Lift – Provides Dial-a-Ride service on the South Coast from Ellwood (Goleta) through Carpinteria. Dial-a-Ride service is restricted to disabled individuals who are not able to use MTD and fares are $3.50. To make reservations, call 681-1181. Youth organizations in Santa Barbara County may also inquire about service for their youth outings.
Guadalupe Shuttle – Providing transportation anywhere within the city of Guadalupe, Monday through Friday. Regular one-way fare is $0.50.
